Wilton (near Pickering) was a chapelry of Pickering Ancient Parish in Yorkshire and ecclesiastically united with Ellerburne chapelry in 1252 creating Ellerburne with Wilton, Wilton thereafter considered a chapelry of Ellerburne. The Civil Parish of Wilton was created in 1866.

WILTON, a chapelry in Ellerburn parish, N. R. Yorkshire; 3½ miles E by S of Pickering r. station. Post town, Pickering. Acres, 2,060. Real property, £1,933. Pop., 181. Houses, 35. The manor belongs to the Rev. J. R. Hill. The living is annexed to Ellerburn. The church is good; and there are a Wesleyan chapel and a national school.
