REIGHTON, or Righton, a village and a parish in Bridlington district, E. R. Yorkshire. The village stands near the coast, 1½ mile NW of Speeton r. station, and 5½ NW by N of Bridlington; and has a post-office under Hull.

The parish comprises 1, 680 acres of land, and 138 of foreshore. Real property, £2, 334. Pop., 251. Houses, 55. The manor belongs to Admiral Mitford. B Hall is an ancient brick edifice. A line of rampart extends along the brick brow of the Wolds, between Reighton and Speeton-Cliff.

The living is a vicarage in the diocese of York. Value, £177. Patron, Sir G. Strickland, Bart. The church has a Norman chancel and a bell turret; and the churchyard commands fine views.

There is a Wesleyan chapel.

REIGHTON, a parish, in the union of Bridlington, wapentake of Dickering, E. riding of York, 3 miles (E. S. E.) from Hunmanby; containing 224 inhabitants.

The parish comprises by admeasurement 2700 acres, and is situated on the road from Hull to Scarborough, and bounded on the east by Filey bay. There are several good limestone-quarries.

The living is a discharged vicarage, valued in the king’s books at £9. 10., net income, £177; patron, and impropriator, Sir George Strickland, Bart. The tithes were commuted for land and corn-rents in 1811; the glebe consists of 70 acres. The church is extremely ancient.
