Birmingham St Mark Warwickshire Family History Guide
Birmingham St Mark (King Edward’s Road) an Ecclesiastical Parish in the county of Warwickshire, created in 1843 from Birmingham St Martin Ancient Parish. Birmingham St Mark was sometimes called Duddeston St Mark1.
The church was built on King Edward’s Road, Ladywood by the Birmingham Church Building Society to designs by the architect George Gilbert Scott. The foundation stone was laid on 31 March 1840 by James Taylor. It was consecrated by the Bishop of Worcester on 29 July 1841.
In 1902 the ecclesiastical boundary of Birmingham St Mark was altered with the creation of Birmingham St Peter. In 1947 Birmingham St Mark Ecclesiastical Parish was abolished, the church was closed, and the benefice and parish united with those of St. Paul, Birmingham2 to form the Ecclesiastical Parish of Birmingham St Paul and St Mark3.
