Parish History

The Imperial Gazetteer of England & Wales 1870

LLANGOED, a village and a parish in the district of Bangor and county of Anglesey. The village stands on the coast, 2½ miles N by E of Beaumaris, and 5 ½ by water NW of Aber r. station; and has a post office under Beaumaris, Anglesey.

The parish comprises 1,343 acres. Real property, £1,705. Pop., 618. Houses, 144. The property is much subdivided. Limestone and good marble are quarried.

The living is a p. curacy, united with the p. curacies of Llaniestyn and Llanfihangel-Tyn-Sylwy, in the diocese of Bangor. Value, £130. Patron, R. J. Hughes, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Cawrdav, and is an inferior edifice. There are a Calvinistic Methodist chapel, and charities £10.
