SLINFOLD, a village and a parish in Horsham district, Sussex. The village stands near the river Arun, near the Guildford and Horsham railway, 4 miles WNW of Horsham; and has a station with telegraph on the railway, a post-office under Horsham, and a good inn. The parish comprises 4,330 acres. Real property, £4,154. Pop., 755. Houses, 148. The property is subdivided. Strood Park and Slinfold Park are chief residences. The living is a vicarage and a rectory in the diocese of Chichester. Value, £540. Patron, the Bishop of Chichester. The church was rebuilt in 1861; and is in the early English style, with tower and spire. There are a national school, and charities £5.
