NORTHOVER, a parish, with a village, in Yeovil district, Somerset: on the river Yeo and the Fosse way, suburban to Ilchester. Post town, Ilchester, under Taunton. Acres, 436. Rated property, £851. Pop., 122. Houses, 20. The property is divided among a few. The manor belongs to J. L. Burnard, Esq. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Bath and Wells. Value, £123. Patron, Miss Chichester. The church is old but good; and consists of nave, N aisle, and chancel, with porch and tower.

NORTHOVER (St. Andrew), a parish, in the union of Yeovil, hundred of Tintinhull, W. division of Somerset, ¼ of a mile (N.) from Ilchester; containing 114 inhabitants. It is situated on the road to Exeter, and comprises 437a. 2r. 11p.; the Ivel flows through the lower lands. The living is a discharged vicarage, endowed with the rectorial tithes, valued in the king’s books at £6. 12. 11., and in the gift of J. H. Chichester, Esq.: the tithes have been commuted for £120, and the glebe comprises 10 acres. The church is an ancient structure.
