The village stands 2 miles SW of Bishops-Lydeard r. station, and 6½ WNW of Taunton; is a pretty place; and has a post-office under Taunton. The parish comprises 1, 301 acres. Real property, £3, 106. Pop., 453. Houses, 92. The property is subdivided. The manor belongs to R.A. Prior, Esq. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Bath and Wells. Value, £174. Patron, Sir James Langham, Bart. The church consists of nave, S aisle, and chancel, with porch and tower; has a Norman font; and is good. Charities, £44.
