KIRKLINGTON (St. Swithin), a parish, in the union of Southwell, Southwell division of the wapentake of Thurgarton, S. division of the county of Nottingham, 3½ miles (N. W. by N.) from Southwell; containing 280 inhabitants.

The parish, which is situated on the road from Mansfield to Newark, comprises by computation 1976 acres.

The living is a perpetual curacy, in the patronage of the Chapter of the Collegiate Church of Southwell, valued in the king’s books at £3. 13. 4.; net income, £49. The church is an ancient structure.
