Treville is an extra-parochial township, 1 mile north-west from St. Devereux railway station, 3 north-east from Dore Union, 6 south-west from Hereford, in Webtree Hundred, Abbey Dore Union, Hereford archdeaconry and bishopric; it is situated near the Newport, Abergavenny, and Hereford railway. Whitfield, the seat of the Rev. Archer Clive, is in the township. The soil is clay; the subsoil is for the greater part gravelly, detached portions of limestone rock occasionally cupping out; 522 acres are under oak woods. Rev. Archer Clive, and Elijah Henry Dean, Esq., are the owners of the soil. The population, in 1851, was 128, with 1,540 acres of land.
