Naunton, or Naunton-in-the-Vale is a township, parish and long straggling village, pleasantly situated in a valley on the high road between Cheltenham and Stow-on-the-Wold 12 miles north-north-east from Cheltenham, and 5 south-west from Stow-on-the-Wold, and is watered by the small river Windrush, in Upper Slaughter Hundred, Stow-on-the-Wold Union, and Gloucester and Bristol bishopric.
The church is a neat stone building, covered with ivy, with well-proportioned tower containing 3 bells, in the early English and Norman styles. The living is worth £500 yearly, with residence, in the gift of the Bishop of the diocese; the Rev. John Hurd, M.A., is the incumbent, and the Rev. Edmund H. Haskins, M.A., is the curate.
There is a newly erected spacious and well-built Baptist chapel, also a village school for boys and girls. The population, in 1851, was 568, and the acreage is 3,210. The soil is oolite and marlstone. The manorial rights are divided.

Naunton or (Naunton-in-the-Vale) is a long straggling village and parish in Stow-on-the-Wold union, containing, by the census of 1861, 535, and in 1871, 538 inhabitants, with 2032 acres of land; in the deanery of Stow, archdeaconry of Gloucester, diocese of Gloucester and Bristol, lower division of Slaughter hundred, East Gloucestershire, near the small river Windrush, 5 miles west from Stow-on-the-Wold, and 12 from Cheltenham.
The rectory, in the incumbency of the Rev. Edward Arthur Litton, M.A., is of the gross annual value of £630, with residence, in the patronage of the Bishop of Gloucester and Bristol. The church, dedicated to St. Andrew, is in the Norman and Early English styles, and consists of nave, chancel, and north aisles, with an embattled tower containing three bells.
The Baptists have a place of worship here, and there is a Board School for children of both sexes. A battle was fought in this neighbourhood between Prince Rupert and the Parliamentarians. The rateable value of this parish is £3517.

Naunton, a village and a parish in Stow-on-the-Wold district, Gloucester. The village stands on the river Windrush, 3 miles NW of Bourton-on-the-Water r. station, and 5 WSW of Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire; is long and straggling; and is sometimes called Naunton-in-the-Vale.
The parish contains also the hamlet of Aylworth and the tything of Harford, Gloucestershire; and its post-town is Andoversford, under Cheltenham. Acres, 3,106. Real property, £2,856. Pop., 535. Houses, 129. The manor is divided. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol. Value, £630. Patron, the Bishop of Gloucester and Bristol. The church is Norman and Early English; and consists of nave, N aisle, and chancel, with a tower. There are a Baptist chapel and a village School.
