Hawkstone, a hamlet in the parish of Weston, county of Salop; 5 miles north-north. east ot Ludlow. Here are the ruins of a castle formerly be longing to Lord Audley. In 1803, two circular towers of great beauty and remarkable thickness were found beneath these ruins: near them are the remains of a square Roman camp.

Hawkstone. A township in the parish of Hodnet, and in the Drayton division of the hundred of Bradford, North. 4 miles north-east of Wem.
The seat of Sir Rowland Hill, Bart. The mansion, long the residence of the ancient family of the Hills, is situated on the north side of a hill, a little out of the road from Shrewsbury to Whitchurch.
