YARNSCOMBE (St. Andrew), a parish, in the union of Torrington, hundred of Hartland, Great Torrington and N. divisions of Devon, 6 miles (N.E. by E.) from Great Torrington; containing 512 inhabitants.
The living is a discharged vicarage, valued in the king’s books at £7. 11. 11., and in the patronage of the Crown; impropriator, Lord Rolle. The great tithes have been commuted for £150, and the vicarial for £135; the glebe comprises 24 acres. The church has in the chancel a very old monument of granite, on which the inscription is illegible.
