The living is a rectory in the diocese of Exeter. Value, £157. Patron, the Rev. A. Dene. The church is ancient but good; has a low turreted tower; and contains monuments of the Denes, the Rolles, and the Pollards.

HORWOOD (St. Michael), a parish, in the union of Barnstaple, hundred of Fremington, Braunton and N. divisions of Devon, 5½ miles (S. W.) from Barnstaple; containing 118 inhabitants.
It comprises about 830 acres, which are chiefly arable and pasture land.
The living is a discharged rectory, valued in the king’s books at £7. 8. 4.; net income, £157; patron and incumbent, the Rev. J. Dene. On the ledge of one of the windows of the church is a recumbent effigy of a female, beautifully executed in alabaster.
