When I link to other family history and genealogy sites, those links may be affiliate links. The commission is paid by the companies who run the genealogy site.

Here’s an example: If I link to a collection of parish registers on, for example Ancestry, and you click on that link I may earn one or two pence. If you then decide to purchase a subscription to Ancestry I may receive a commission of a few pounds.
