Wentnor, a parish in the hund. of Purslow, union of Clun, Salop; 5½ miles north-east of Bishop’s-Castle. Living, a rectory in the archd. of Salop and dio of Hereford; rated at £7 2s. 11d.; nett value £189. It is in the patronage of the dean and canons of Christ-church, Oxford. Acres 4,190. Houses 120. A.P. £3,026. Pop., in 1801, 452; in 1831, 707. Poor rates, in 1838, £222 14s.
