AISHOLT (or Asholt) is a parish and village, 8 miles west from Bridgwater railway station, in the Western division of the county, western division of Cannington hundred, Bridgwater union and county court district, rural deanery of Bridgwater, Taunton archdeaconry, Bath and Wells diocese, situated on the Quantock hills. The church of All Saints is a stone building, in the Perpendicular style: it has chancel, nave, aisle and square embattled tower with 4 bells and clock. The register dates from about 1640, but the early portion has been destroyed by fire ; the earliest date of the present register is 1665.

AISHOLT, or Asholt, a parish in Bridgewater district, Somerset; 4½ miles E of Crowcombe-Heathfield r. station, and 7½ W by S of Bridgewater. It has a post-office under Bridgewater. Acres, 1,252. Real property, £2,643. Pop., 181. Houses, 41. The property is much subdivided. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Bath and Wells. Value, £280. Patron, Rev. Josh. West. The church is good. Charities, £5.

AISHOLT, or Asholt (All Saints), a parish, in the union of Bridgwater, hundred of Cannington, W. division of Somerset, 7¼ miles (W. by S.) from Bridgwater; containing 201 inhabitants, and comprising 1252 acres, of which 240 are common or waste. Limestone is quarried, and used for agricultural purposes. The living is a rectory, valued in the king’s books at £7. 12. 3½.; net income, £280; patrons, the family of West: the glebe consists of 60 acres, and there is a good glebehouse.
