LLANDINABO, a parish in Ross district, Hereford; 3 miles W of Fawley r. station, and 6 NW of Ross. Post town, Ross. Acres, 494. Real property, £1,030. Pop., 63. Houses, 12. The property is divided among a few. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Hereford. Value, £104. Patron, H. Hoskins, Esq. The church is old but good, and ha a tower.

A Topographical Dictionary of England 1848

LLANDINABO (St. Dinebo), a parish, in the union of Ross, Upper division of the hundred of Wormelow, county of Hereford, 6½ miles (N. W.) from Ross; containing 62 inhabitants. It consists of 484 acres. The living is a discharged rectory, valued in the king’s books at £2. 18. 6½., and in the gift of Kedgwyn Hoskins, Esq.: the tithes have been commuted for £130.

It was understood he was a native of Cromartie, and that his merit obtained him his post in the army, having served in the Ranks, bur., 10 Oct. 1807

Mem. In 1788 a cottage was erected in Landinabo, near the great elm at Cross Colloe, on the North East corner of Townpit field, part of the Landinabo estate, the property of John Hoskins, clerk, let by lease to John Pearce; the expense of building which said cottage amounted to £14 11s. 4d. which was paid by the sd. J. Hoskins to the sd. J. Pearce, who had superintended the building. Now these presents testify that the sd. J. Pearce agrees to pay yearly to the sd. J. Hoskins on Feb. 2 the sum of 15s. as rent for the sd. Cottage during the continuance of the term of his present lease of Landinabo, (& both) have signified their assent by setting their hands hereunto March 5, 1763, in the presence of Eliz. Rogers. Llandinabo Cassey Directory of Herefordshire 1858

Llandinabo is an exceedingly small parish, adjoining that of Much Birch, and contains a population of about 60 inhabitants; it is situate on the high road leading from Hereford to Ross, distant 3 ½ miles west from Fawley station, on the Hereford, Ross, and Gloucester line of railway, 6 north-west from Ross, and 7 ½ south from Hereford; this parish is in the archdeaconry and diocese of Hereford, and in the deanery of Irchenfield, in the Wormelow Hundred and Ross Union. The church is a very old stone building, consisting of nave and chancel, with a tower at the west end. The benefice is a rectory, the annual value of which is about £104, Without residence, being into gift of the Hoskyns family. The area is 494 acres, and the population 77. Sir Hungerford Hoskyns, of Harewood House, is lord of the manor; and Hamp Adams, Esq., the principal landed proprietor. There are no charities connected with this parish.

Letters through Harewood. Ross is the nearest money order office.

Coach

Royal Mail, from Hereford to Ross, passes through every evening at ½ past 6; returning every morning at 9.
