hello out there, i am researching family history of Shergolds in Sunderland Durham. In the 1911 census I have a curious entry for “Fleming Field Shotton Gallery Durham “. I am hoping some-one can tell me what this is, how it fits in mining if at all….. as I know there colleries in the region…… If someone has records no matter how scant of Shergold family in and around Sunderland from 1880 to relatively the current day it would be helpful to bring some life to this outlying branch of the family…. I havent seen an address of actual street circa 1880 – 1915 and anyone with directories of the region, please be forthcoming. There is no death certificate registration for one John Shergold and am hoping that he didnt die in a mining accident…. Maybe someone can enlighten me…. Direct emails welcome. Thank-you Marty

for those who know their families were involved in mining,, and doing research there is a tidy site called Durham Mining Musuem, which has some interesting lists of persons who died in mining accidents,, it also has other information regarding mining….

Have just built a database for Cheesebrough family, anyone doing research on this family maybe my file will help.
