Acrise (St. Martin), a parish, in the union of Elham, partly in the hundred of Folkestone, but chiefly in that of Loningborough, lathe of Shepway, E. division of Kent, 5 miles (N. N. W.) from Folkestone, near the road to Canterbury: containing 207 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, valued in the king’s books at £7, and in the patronage of the Crown: the tithes have been commuted for a rent-charge of £217, and there are nearly 44 acres of glebe.
