Tentergate WR Yorkshire Lewis Topographical Dictionary of England 1845

Tentergate, with Scriven, a township, in the parish of Knaresborough, Lower division of the wapentake of claro, W. riding of York; containing 1435 inhabitants. The township comprises about 1598 acres, and Tentergate forms that part of the borough of Knaresborough usually called Bond-End; it is chiefly the property of Sir Charles Slingsby, Bart.
