Acklam, a parish town, in the wapentake of Buckrose, liberty of St. Peter; 6 ½ miles from Malton, 9 from Pocklington, 13 from York. – Pop. 389. The Church, peculiar, is a vicarage, dedicated to St. John the Baptist, in the deanery of Buckrose, value, £5 p.r. £130. Patron, the Chancellor of York Cathedral.
